WeBoss vs Wix
A Wix alternative for service businesses
Wix can build almost anything if you build it. WeBoss builds a service business site for you, with booking and quotes already on it.
Short answer
Pick Wix if you want full design freedom, an online shop or a large app market, and have time to build. Pick WeBoss if you run a local service business and want a finished site with booking, instant quotes and one list of leads, in about a minute.

Why service businesses look for a Wix alternative
Wix is a very capable builder. That is also the reason some owners go looking for something else. It gives you a blank canvas, hundreds of templates and an app market, and then the building is up to you. If you fix boilers or clean houses for a living, an evening spent moving boxes around a page is an evening not spent on paid work.
The other reason is where the features sit. A service business usually needs three things from its site: a way to book, a way to get a price, and a place to see every enquiry. On Wix some of that comes with a higher plan or an app. On WeBoss it is on the page from the first build.
How building a site differs
| Step | WeBoss | Wix |
|---|---|---|
| Start | Answer five questions about your business | Pick a template, or describe your site to Wix's AI |
| Design | Chosen for your trade from 361 hand-made sections in nine styles | Yours to choose and arrange |
| Words | Written for your trade; you edit by clicking | Template text, or AI text you prompt for |
| Booking and quotes | Already on the page | Add and set up Wix Bookings or an app |
| Changing things | Click to edit, swap a section's design, or ask the AI | Drag and drop anything, anywhere |
Neither way is wrong. Wix suits people who enjoy designing. WeBoss suits people who want to see a finished site, fix the details and get back to work.
What a service business pays in a year
These are list prices multiplied out, before any discount, checked October 2026. The fair comparison is the plan you would actually need, which for a business that takes bookings is usually not the cheapest one.
| Plan | Per month | Per year | Booking included |
|---|---|---|---|
| WeBoss Starter | $12.49 | $149.90 | Yes |
| Wix Light | $17.77 | $213.24 | No |
| Wix Core | $29.77 | $357.24 | Yes |
Wix paid plans include a free domain for the first year, which is worth about $10 to $20. WeBoss does not sell domains; you connect your own. Prices change, so check both pricing pages before you decide.
Switching from Wix to WeBoss
There is no import button, and you do not need one. A new site takes about a minute to build, so the job is carrying over what is worth keeping.
- Build the new site by answering the five questions. It is free, and your Wix site stays live while you do it.
- Copy your best words across: your about text, service descriptions and any real customer reviews.
- Upload your own photos. Real photos of your work beat any stock picture.
- Check the booking form and prices. Send yourself a test booking.
- Point your domain at WeBoss. If the domain is registered with Wix, you can keep it there and change one record, or move it to another registrar.
- Cancel the Wix plan once the new site is live and you have checked it on your phone.
Wix sites cannot be exported and moved to another host. That is true of most website builders, WeBoss included: you take your words, photos and domain with you, not the design.
Other Wix alternatives worth a look
WeBoss is not the right answer for everyone who is leaving Wix. Here is an honest short list, by what you need.
| Builder | Best for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Squarespace | Polished templates, portfolios, shops and blogs | Booking is a separate Acuity subscription |
| Hostinger | The lowest price, if you commit for years | The intro price needs a 48-month term |
| WordPress | Full control and thousands of plugins | You look after hosting, updates and security |
| Shopify | Selling products online | Built for shops, not for booking a service |
| WeBoss | Local service businesses that need bookings and quotes | No shop, blog or card payments |
If you sell products, look at Shopify first. If you want to own every detail and do not mind the upkeep, WordPress. If the site exists to bring in bookings and quote requests for a local service, that is the gap WeBoss is built for.
What WeBoss does not do
It is fair to say this plainly. WeBoss has no online store, no blog, no card payments and no app market. Sites are one strong page built around bookings and enquiries. If you need to sell products, publish articles every week or take deposits, Wix is the better tool today.

Weighing up other builders?
Is there a better alternative to Wix for a service business?
It depends on what "better" means for you. If you want a finished site with booking and quotes without building it yourself, WeBoss is made for that. If you want design freedom, a shop or a blog, Wix, Squarespace or WordPress will suit you more.
Is WeBoss cheaper than Wix?
For a service business that needs booking, usually yes: booking is on WeBoss Starter ($14.99 a month), while on Wix it starts with the Core plan. Check both pricing pages, as prices change.
Is Wix hard to use?
Wix is not hard, but it is big. The editor lets you move anything anywhere, and there are many settings, apps and plans to choose from. Owners who want fewer decisions tend to prefer a builder that makes the first version for them.
Which is better, Wix or Squarespace?
Wix gives more freedom and more apps; Squarespace gives more polished templates with fewer choices to make. For a local service business the bigger question is where booking sits: on Wix it starts with the Core plan, and on Squarespace it is a separate Acuity subscription. Our Squarespace comparison has the numbers.
Can I move my Wix site to WeBoss?
There is no import. WeBoss builds a new site from five answers in about a minute; copy across any words you want to keep.
Does WeBoss have an app market like Wix?
No. Booking, quotes, forms, leads, search set-up and ad tracking are built in instead of added as apps.
Is there a free plan like Wix has?
Building and previewing a WeBoss site is free. Going live needs a paid plan. Wix's free plan does go live, on a wixsite.com address with Wix branding.
